Helaine Blumenfeld
Helaine Blumenfeld has been selected to exhibit her monumental marble sculpture 'Spirit of Life' on Park Lane, London.
Months of meticulous planning culminated in the six ton marble sculpture measuring over four meters high being craned into position in the early hours of the morning of the 23rd June. Opposite The Dorchester, the sculpture will be seen by an average of 700,000 people who travel along Park Lane every day.
Helaine commented “Some see it as an angel with its wings spread open, others as a tree of life, while some view it as hands reaching out in hope. But everyone recognises that this sculpture is about the positive power of beauty, of hope and of creation. I would like to see beautiful sculpture re-enter the lives of people – not just in art galleries but on the streets, to take its place as part of a restoration of the human Spirit."
The major Blumenfeld retrospective at Salisbury Cathedral continues until the 8th September.
